    Home for the holidays

Just finalized my flight reservation to go home for Thanksgiving–first time in a good seven years. I mean, it’s not the first time I’ve been home, but it’ll be the first time I can make both my father’s side of the family’s dinner on Sunday and the other side on Thursday. Now that the ticket is bought (I pushed the “MUG ME!” button after entering my card number, and the JAL confirmation screen said, “You will accumulate miles on this flight.” I’d better!), I’m almost giddy with excitement at seeing fall in Pennsylvania for the first time in nearly a decade, even if I will be getting there after most of the prettiest leaves are gone.

Well, I’d like nothing better than to see you and the family. Thanks for the invitation. I’ve got friends in the NY/Philly/DC megalopolis that I’ve been dissing for eons, and my family hasn’t clapped eyes on me since summer last year, so I’m kind of waiting and seeing whether I can swing more of my accumulated vacation. I’ll keep you posted.

Fall is one of the best times of the year, and Pennsy has some of the most beautiful areas. I used to go to Del Water Gap to see the leaves.
And don’t forget – Alabama is on the way between Pennsy and Texas.

And how long are you going to be in the States and how much time leftover did you leave for a leisurely drive to visit friends in Texas?

“It would be easier if only you were still living in Jersey City” is not a nice thing to say to a friend, so I won’t say it. :) I have a dear friend from college in Nashville, though, too; depending on how much vacation time I get, I seriously may be able to do at least a few days through the South. I’ll have to wait and see. But thanks for asking!

What about the Twin Cities? 😉

Jaysus! Maria? Seriously Maria? How are you? Lots of things have changed for me…uh, obviously (including, I hope, not being as much of a jerk as I was ten or fifteen years ago). My e-mail’s over to the left–let me know how things are.
