You know, I really am a self-critical guy. It just takes time to get results sometimes. For a while there, I’ve been getting search after search for “white peril” and wondering why the people out of the bunch who were looking for me wouldn’t just use the URL.

Then the other day, I had to get to a site that was called something like geschlumfelflugenhammerkohl.net, and I thought, Who the hell would choose such a f**king random domain name? I swear, it took a good three hours before I was like, Oh! I wonder whether maybe…. So I went to see whether www.seorookie.net was, in fact, available. It was, so I took it. It’ll take a few days for processing and things, I suppose, but I’ll direct it to this page so I’m not the only one who can find me without Google or the ability to bookmark.

Smart move. Much easier for morons like me to remember and spell — and one of the best unclaimed names still extant. You’re lucky some crackpot Nazi (or Mecha) types didn’t grab it first. Your traffic will be greater because of it.

Well, I hope I just don’t end up making it easier for the neo-Nazis to find me–though I’d almost pay to see their faces when they get to the fag parts! That should clue them in to the fact that they haven’t found a fellow traveler.

I was one of the people who had trouble finding your blog after reading it the first time. I remembered that it began with “iw” and looked through all the blogs I read, trying to remember from where I’d reached you. I finally resorted to Googling “Sean Kinsell + Japan.”

      Incidentally, what does iwamatodjishi mean?

    4. Sean Kinsell says:

Sorry to cause the trouble, and touched that you made the effort to come back and read my ramblings.
Iwamatodjishi is the first line of a poem. When I was registering for a domain, I was kind of in a hurry, so I just tried to think of something that had no chance whatever of having been snapped up ahead of me. Guess it worked!

Sean…don’t take this personally…and I know we go way back and all, but I guess my committment to the blog hasn’t reached the stage where I’m actually ready to bookmark yet…it’s just that I’ve been burned by so many promising blogs in the past, only be confronted with the pain of the solemn right-click/delete ritual when things go sour. Thus for now I google ‘white peril’ and there you are, right ahead of that Russo-Japanese war article from the Guardian archives.

Dude, it took me ages to realize who you were–I didn’t really look at your e-mail address when I got your message before, so I didn’t connect it with you. I was sitting there thinking, Weird. If I’d known some Italian leather guy a while back, you’d think I’d remember. Anyway, I was figuring this would be an easier URL to type in directly without having to search or have it bookmarked. How you get here is your lookout.
